Its’s time for a Giveaway!! We have partnered with Fashioned by Rose for this month’s giveaway!! Fashioned by Rose is a very talented designer of quilts, clothing, accessories, & décor.   You name it, she can do it!!  We are giving a lucky follower this beautiful whole cloth quilt made with love by Rose herself.  Each quilt she makes is special because she sends it with prayers and blessings for the unknown receiver.  I had the pleasure to sit down and chat with Rose as she quilted this beautiful piece.  Let’s get to know this Cottondale Alabama native and the person behind this beautiful work.

1. When did you first discover a passion for sewing?

I’ve been sewing since the age of eight but middle school is where I really discovered my passion for sewing.  I participated in the school’s 4-H program and from then on I sewed all the time. My kids laugh because I actually have more sewing machines than I do pairs of shoes.

2. Where did you learn your craft?

My grandmother taught me on a treadle sewing machine. The brand was Singer which might explain my preference for Singer sewing machines.

3. What is the motivation behind all this beautiful work?

I feel like healthcare should be aligned with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I don’t like the thought of people being hungry or unclothed. This is why a lot if my work is donated to support mission trips, clothing and food drives.

4. You mentioned that it is therapeutic for you to sew, why is that?

Oh, it is very therapeutic and relaxing for me! The rhythm of the machine calms my mind. I love to watch what is under my needle go from just a simple cloth and transform into a finished piece.

5. Tell me what is your greatest accomplishment?

My children are my greatest accomplishment.

6. What is the next big thing for Fashioned by Rose?

I have always wanted to be a costume designer. I would love to eventually work in that industry. I’ll actually be working with the children’s theater in Tuscaloosa, Al.
